Quick guide to the consultation on new registration conditions
We are consulting on changes to our regulatory requirements for providers seeking to register with us.
We want to ensure that newly registered higher education providers are prepared to treat students fairly and are well governed.
To support this we are proposing:
- a new initial condition of registration relating to treating students fairly
- a new initial condition of registration relating to effective governance arrangements
- changes to our registration application requirements.
'Initial' conditions are requirements that a provider must meet to be registered with us. This means these new initial conditions will not apply to providers that are currently registered. They would apply to any new applications from August 2025.
