Dashboard user guide
Our access and participation data dashboard helps to compare different student groups and their peers across all stages of a student’s involvement at English universities and colleges.
The dashboard can be used by anyone with an interest in higher education. It displays data across a six-year period to show how student access and participation has changed in recent years.
Due to the volume of data, we have divided the dashboard into two views – an overview and a detailed view.
About the overview
The overview shows indicators and gaps for multiple student characteristics simultaneously (TUNDRA quintiles, English index of multiple deprivation (IMD) quintiles, ethnicity, age, disability, ABCS quintiles and eligibility for free school meals).
It is intended to draw out key information in one view, allowing the user to quickly understand the general performance for each provider.
About the detailed view
The detailed view is accessible via the 'See more data' button and shows indicators, gaps and ratios for one student characteristic at a time. It contains further detail and explores more student characteristics than the overview, for example:
- Further breakdowns of age
- Disability type
- Sex
- POLAR4 quintiles
- Intersections of characteristics.
The detailed view allows users to interrogate and understand each aspect of each provider’s performance more thoroughly.
