Currently only a very small number of higher education providers refer to Gypsy, Roma and Traveller groups in their access and participation plans. Some of the approaches to meeting the needs of these groups are in the early stages of development or are yet to be scoped.

We will update this page with examples of effective practice in relation to Gypsy, Roma and Travellers’ access, success and progression from higher education as we identify them.

Fifth Park Academy: Supporting Roma students

SecEd have published a case study presenting the work undertaken by Fifth Park Academy, a secondary school in Sheffield, to develop an approach that would ensure Roma pupils could access the curriculum, were integrated into the school community, and that home-school relationships were established to increase attendance and attainment in school.
