Challenge Competitions
The Department for Education (DfE) and the Office for Students (OfS) ran a Challenge Competition for higher education providers to apply for funding to develop short courses as part of a trial in preparation for the Lifelong Loan Entitlement (LLE) which will launch in 2025.
Higher education providers can bid for funding for project proposals to improve access and participation for black, Asian and minority ethnic groups in postgraduate research (PGR).
This was a joint funding competition run by Research England (RE) and the Office for Students (OfS).
This Challenge Competition invited providers to develop and implement projects to identify ways of supporting the transition to highly skilled employment and improving outcomes for graduates who seek employment in their home region.
This competition supports the priorities of the OfS to promote social mobility and contribute to economic prosperity.
This Challenge Competition encouraged universities and colleges, working with key partners, to find new ways of combating the rise in student mental health issues.
Funding competitions
Providers submitted bids for funding for up to two academic years to develop Level 6 degree apprenticeships to expand provision and increase equality of opportunity.
Higher education providers submitted bids for funding to explore innovative and intersectional approaches to target mental health support for students.
The Department of Health and Social Care provided £1 million of investment to the Office for Students for this funding competition.
A joint funding competition with Research England to fund projects to support student engagement in knowledge exchange.
Funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the Office for Artificial Intelligence for providers to develop postgraduate conversion courses in artificial intelligence and data science.
