Assessment reports

This page lists the reports that assessment teams have completed relating to the quality of specific courses at selected higher education providers.

Business and management courses - 2022-23

In 2022 we commissioned assessments into business and management at a number of different providers:

University of East London

Investigation outcome: closed

In May 2022, as a result of our general monitoring, we opened an investigation into the quality of business and management courses provided by University of East London.

We appointed an assessment team in November 2022 to provide expert advice and judgements about the quality of the university’s business and management courses.

The assessment team did not identify any concerns from its review of this information relating to conditions B1: Academic experience, B2: Resources, support and student engagement, or B4: Assessment and awards.

We have considered the team’s quality assessment report and have decided to close this investigation with no further regulatory action.

London South Bank University

Investigation outcome: closed

In May 2022, as a result of our general monitoring, we opened an investigation into the quality of business and management courses provided by London South Bank University.

We appointed an assessment team in October 2022 to provide expert advice and judgements about the quality of the university’s business and management courses.

The assessment team did not identify any concerns from its review of information relating to conditions B1: Academic experience, B2: Resources, support and student engagement, or B4: Assessment and awards.

We have considered the team’s quality assessment report and have decided to close this investigation with no further regulatory action.

University of Bedfordshire

Investigation outcome: closed 

In May 2022, as a result of our general monitoring, we opened an investigation into the quality of business and management courses provided by the University of Bedfordshire.  

We appointed an assessment team in October 2022 to provide expert advice and judgements about the quality of the university’s business and management courses.  

The assessment team did not identify any concerns from its review of information relating to condition B4: Assessment and awards. 

The assessment team identified one concern from its review of this information relating to condition B1: Academic experience and two concerns relating to condition B2: Resources, support and student engagement. Following consideration of the quality assessment report, the OfS found that the university had breached condition B2. 

We have considered the actions that the university has taken in response to the concerns identified in the quality assessment report, and have worked collaboratively with the provider to ensure that it has a comprehensive set of plans and initiatives that, if implemented effectively, have the capability to address those concerns. The OfS has therefore decided to close this investigation and continue monitoring the provider to ensure that students interests are protected.

BPP University

Investigation outcome: closed

We appointed an assessment team in November 2022 to provide expert advice and judgements about the quality of the university’s business and management courses.

The assessment team did not identify any concerns from its review of this information relating to conditions B1: Academic experience, B2: Resources, support and student engagement, or B4: Assessment and awards.

We have considered the team’s quality assessment report and have decided to close this investigation with no further regulatory action.

University of Wolverhampton

Investigation outcome: closed

In May 2022, as a result of our general monitoring, we opened an investigation into the quality of business and management courses provided by the University of Wolverhampton. 

We appointed an assessment team in October 2022 to provide expert advice and judgements about the quality of the university’s business and management courses. 

The assessment team did not identify any concerns from its review of information relating to conditions B1: Academic experience, or B2: Resources, support and student engagement.

The assessment team identified one concern from its review of this information relating to condition B4: Assessment and awards. Following consideration of the quality assessment report, the OfS found that the university had breached condition B4.

We have considered the actions that the university has taken in response to the concern identified in the quality assessment report, and in response to the subsequent finding that the university had breached condition B4. The OfS found that these actions will be effective in remedying the breach, and therefore decided to close this investigation with no further regulatory action.

We have considered the team’s quality assessment report and have decided to close this investigation with no further regulatory action.
