University of Leicester
Standing together against hate
Through this project, the university developed clearer processes for reporting hate crime and for accessing campus and local support services. The project also improved staff and student awareness of how to report hate crime.
This project developed a video to demonstrate how hate, hostility and harassment affect students within higher education and to help universities tackle these issues more effectively.
The university also worked with The Centre for Hate Studies to develop a series of digital training modules to support better understanding and responses to hate and extremism.
Hosted on an interactive digital platform, the training is designed to support a range of practitioners at all levels. The Hate Crime in Higher Education module will:
- develop your knowledge of how hate, hostility and harassment affect students within higher education
- enable you to help universities tackle these issues more effectively
- provide you with the information to support students and staff who are affected by hate crime.
