The TEF - a guide for students

How are students involved in the TEF?

Students were fully involved in the TEF 2023 to ensure that the TEF ratings reflect what matters most to students.

Student submissions

TEF student contacts put together a student submission on behalf of their university or college's students about the quality of their teaching, learning and outcomes.

The TEF panel used the student submission alongside other evidence when deciding which TEF rating to award the university or college.

Copies of student submissions for the universities and colleges that took part in the TEF 2023 have been published alongside the TEF ratings.

TEF panel members

Students were members of the TEF panel and jointly decided the ratings, alongside academic panel members.

Future involvement

We expect to invite students to make submissions for future quality assessment exercises, so it's important for student representatives to start thinking about and collecting evidence for future assessments now.

We've created a student guide with tips and advice on how to collect high quality evidence.
