Ahead of Lifelong Loan Entitlement delivery from 2025, the Office for Students (OfS) is launching a Challenge Competition in August 2021 which will distribute funding for the development and delivery of new, short courses at Levels 4-6. This event was an opportunity to find out more about our plans for the funding competition to trial higher education short courses.
The Prime Minister announced in September 2020 the introduction of a Lifelong Loan Entitlement (LLE). The LLE will be introduced from 2025, providing individuals with a loan entitlement to the equivalent of four years of post-18 education to use over their lifetime.
Ahead of LLE delivery from 2025, the Office for Students (OfS) will launch a Challenge Competition in August 2021 which will distribute funding for the development of new short courses at Levels 4-6. This event provided further information about the funding competition and will include the following:
- An overview of the higher education short course trial (Pete Myant, DfE)
- Further details of the funding competition and proposed timeline (Sandra Binns, Higher Education Short Course Manager, OfS)
- Access to student finance (Hugh Morrison, SLC) – this presentation is available to view separately from the main event recording, please see below
- Q&A session (led by Brooke Storer-Church, Head of Skills, OfS).
The final session allowed attendants to ask questions about the competition.
