Discover Uni’s partnership with UK Interactive Entertainment (Ukie) marks the first time the website has collaborated with an employer-led organisation to provide course information for students in a specific industry.
Ukie has relaunched its Games Map, a tool that shows the locations of games companies, games service providers and academic institutions in the UK. First launched in 2016, the upgraded map has been integrated with Discover Uni’s data to allow users to access gaming course information and guidance at universities and colleges across the UK.
The map highlights the geographic diversity of the industry across the UK, with strong employment and study networks in cities across the UK, including Brighton, Leeds, Liverpool and Dundee, as well as London. Using data provided by Discover Uni, students, parents and advisers can research courses and skill requirements for the variety of roles in this growing industry.
Discover Uni provides official information on higher education in the UK, including statistics on higher education courses from national surveys and data collected from universities and colleges. It is operated by the UK higher education funding and regulatory bodies, which are the Office for Students, the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland, the Scottish Funding Council and the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales. Discover Uni is managed by the Office for Students (OfS) on behalf of these bodies.

We now encourage games businesses to claim their company record or create their own if it isn’t on the map, to help us tell that story.’
The partnership with Ukie is a first for Discover Uni, and will provide a model for the website to build connections with organisations in other industries.
