The Office for Students has commented on this year’s Student Academic Experience Survey.
Commenting on this year’s annual Student Academic Experience Survey published by Advance HE and the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI), Nicola Dandridge, chief executive of the OfS, said:
‘Last year’s National Student Survey showed that students wanted universities and colleges to do more to ensure that they had the right feedback to progress and reach their potential. So it is good to see that of those students surveyed by Advance HE and HEPI this year, more are saying that their higher education experience surpasses their expectations, and that they are increasingly happy with the feedback and support for independent study they receive from teaching staff.
‘However, it is a concern that students from more disadvantaged backgrounds are less likely to report that their experience met or exceeded expectations, and more likely to say that it fell short. Such disparities clearly need to be addressed. Universities and colleges should also ensure that they provide well-targeted information so that all students have realistic expectations and make informed choices about what, where and how to study.’
