Monitoring of capital funding allocated in the financial year 2024-25: Guidance for higher education providers

The OfS requires all higher education providers in receipt of capital funding in financial year 2024-25 to submit a monitoring return to account for their expenditure. 

This guidance sets out the monitoring information required from all higher education providers that:

• received a payment of formula capital funding in financial year 2024-25, distributed in July 2024
• submitted a successful bid for competitive capital funding for financial years 2022-23 to 2024-25, and received payment towards it in financial year 2024-25.  

Providers that received a formula capital funding allocation in March 2024 reported to us on the use of this funding in April 2024 and are not required to do so again as part of this exercise in April 2025. These providers are shown in Version 1 of Annex A found at: Formula capital funding: 2024 allocations.

The deadline for returning monitoring information is 16 April 2025.
