Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework: Year Four procedural guidance

This guidance sets out:

  • the timetable and procedures for higher education providers and for panel members and assessors taking part in TEF Year Four
  • how and when provider-level TEF awards will be replaced by subject-level TEF awards
  • the implications for existing Year Two and Three awards.

It updates, supplements and should be read alongside the ‘Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework Specification’ (October 2017) published by the Department for Education.

This guidance sets out the timetable and procedures for higher education providers and panellists participating in Year Four. It also contains information relevant to all providers on the publication of TEF metrics and the transition from provider level to subject level TEF, and it updates the TEF specification published by the Department for Education in October 2017.
