Uni Connect branding guidelines

Social media guidelines for Uni Connect

We encourage you to use your social media channels as often as possible.

For example, you might want to share case study examples, photographs of activities, successes related to participation or promote events coming up.

Channels

The OfS currently has the following channels:

Each time you use these channels, where possible please:

  1. Tag us.
  2. Include the hashtags #UniConnect and #FairerFutures
  3. Use the website link www.ofsuniconnect.org each time you post.

These help us to evaluate our social media activity and drive traffic to the website.

You can add any other relevant hashtags to build interest. For example:

#students #outreach #university #teachers #Teachers5oClockClub #school

It’s best to use capitals on the start of each word of a hashtag when using more than one word together (for example, FairerFutures rather than #fairerfutures).

We will retweet you where possible. Please also retweet/share from the OfS account to increase visibility.

Feel free to use any other social media channels you have as well, referencing the hashtag and OfS involvement wherever possible.

Social media takeovers

We are supportive of partnerships using Instagram stories to film events, activities or any other promotional activity. Please tag us in the stories and we will add them to the OfS Instagram story.

We are in the process of looking into Instagram story takeovers, where OfS staff will be able to use our account to post stories showing a day in the life of their job role.

For example, this may include a short video of them catching a train to attend a conference, followed by a piece to camera explaining a project they are working on or perhaps documenting a university or college visit.

We will keep you informed if there will be opportunities to do this to promote activity from partnerships. In the meantime, this may be a good idea for you to have a go at on your own Instagram stories.

As explained above, if you tag us, we will share. Please ensure you have the permission of those included before posting. See more details below under photography and videos.

Graphics

Here are some graphics that you can use along with your social media posts:

You can edit these in Photoshop or your chosen design programme using our branding guidelines to help you with fonts, colours and logo positioning. If you are unable to find or obtain the suggested fonts, please use the secondary fonts (you should all have access to Arial).

Post these with your own tailored messages and if you wish, with your own logos included, to demonstrate how your work supports the Uni Connect programme.

We want your local brand to be the prominent identity in your area, with the OfS programme name providing context and endorsement.

Photographs and videos

Posts with visual content - a photograph, video or graphic - tend to be more eye-catching and to attract more engagement. You could experiment with using photographs and producing videos or boomerangs.

You don’t necessarily need expensive or highly technical equipment to do this – a high-quality photograph from a smart phone can work just as well. Ensure that you seek permissions from the people featured, especially if they are under 18 years of age.

Please get in touch with us if you need more support or further resources to help you with your promotion.
