Published data 2019-20

Annual TRAC 2019-20: Sector summary and analysis by TRAC peer group
Annual TRAC 2019-20: Sector summary and analysis by TRAC peer group provides analysis of costs, and income by activity categories: publicly funded teaching; non-publicly funded teaching; research and other (income generating activities) and other (non-commercial activities). Research income and costs are also analysed by research sponsor category.
The report also gives an analysis of the data by TRAC peer group and a summary of sector data from higher education institutions across the UK.
Both the publication ‘Annual TRAC 2019-20’ and the Excel workbook below ‘Annual TRAC 2019-20: analysis by TRAC peer group’ form part of the official statistics release.

This workbook provides an analysis of annual TRAC income and cost data, reported by TRAC peer group.
In December 2021 we released – as an ad hoc experimental official statistic – a summary of some additional contextual information collected within the TRAC return for 2019-20. This is to aid the interpretation of the TRAC data for 2019-20 and to estimate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the operations of higher education providers in the period from March to July 2020.
